I remember when I was starting my journey as an aspiring painter and starting with the formal art education(I was 13 maybe?) I was browsing books filled with Old Master's paintings, there was a lot of Flemish portraits of figures from that time wearing turbans or some sort of hats and it added a lot more to the whole personality of the sitter, even Rembrandt and Vermeer did a lot of that, so I thought I should do my own interpretation with a 'modern' take on it, whatever that term means.
