"Blank paper note #3" Contemporary still life art

6 x 6 inches Oil on Gallery wrapped canvas
sold

So it's been a while since I did any still lives, I enjoy going back to a certain subject with a new take on it, its never the same, I had to deal with subtle variations in value here and explore the nuances of light falling over the subject, constant comparison is the key in getting things right in the painting process.

"Peach in purple" floral still life

6 x 6 inch Oil on canvas

Before I actually compose the still life I like to visualize it, in this case it was mostly color combinations, I like to have an idea what its gonna look like prior to the actual object arrangement, the only thing that wouldn't agree to that was the actual peach, it would just not sit still, you'd think it should just stay flat on the table but no..., its like a sitter that likes to move a lot, I fixated it between the foldings and it seemed to work!

Two of a kind - still life gallery daily painting by the artist

5" x 7" Oil on canvas panel
Fresh and colorful still life composition with nectarines and cherries, I've painted it under north light, no artificial fruits or lights used:)

Dark feather - original Daily still life Oil painting with an ink bottle

5" x 7" Oil on canvas panel
The lightness of the feather and the grounded ink bottle suggest 2 polarities, like the sky and the earth, at the same time both the feather and bottle are dark, just to make things more confusing:)

email me if you wanna purchase this painting
6" x 8" Oil on canvas panel

This still life composition was all about color and I was trying to capture all the color variables that drew my attention in the first place, from the warmer tones to the cooler violets, I really like how all these colors relate to each other and connect the whole piece together.

Oriental pair - Painting a day Still Life by the artist

5" x 7" Oil on canvas panel
This still life setup had a certain softness that I wanted to translate on the canvas and it a was a nice combination of greens and the warmer tones of the chinese pot.

Sake cup with Red plum - Available

5" x 7" Oil on canvas

This is another piece with an oriental feel and a color study, I wanted to get the intense red from the plum and I used a madder deep for the middle tone and a permanent red for the highlights.

Mushroom

SOLD
"Mushroom" 2.5" x 3.5" Oil on canvas
This mushroom was actualy picked up straight from the ground instead of being purchased at the local grocery store, there are still pieces of the soil on the bottom of the stem, no mushrooms were digested during the making of this painting, just the regular fumes from the oil:)

"Red Plum and Sake Bottle" 5" x 7" Oil on Canvas on Panel

I like how the strong red color of the plum communicates with the white bottle and the design on it, making it the focal point of the composition, as always, it was painted from life, I was tempted to eat the plum many times while painting but I had to control myself since by doing that a valuable prop will be gone.

Silver Ball with Geranium

"Silver Ball with Geranium" 6" x 6" Oil on Canvas

This composition deals with the reflective surface of the silver ball and the intense color and softness of the flower, I think that when combined together they bring something unique in this piece, I still tried to keep my painterly approach here even though parts of the object demanded a more 'strict' finish.
